SIRs

SIRs (Sydney International Regatta) has just finished today bringing an end to a tough four days of hard competition. I have made a few friends as a result of this regatta; Ben and Klade from Australia, Corinne from Switzerland and Keamia from Canada. To my disappointment, men and women were seperated in the radial fleet for this regatta. On Day 1, we had a good 15-18 knots worth of breeze coming from the NE, it was quite choppy and fun to sail in. I made 2 very good starts but failed to maintain my position on the downwinds. I ended up 5th overall with a 4-6. On day 2, we had very light shifty winds of 4-6 knots and started quite late after waiting for the wind on shore. I was leading half way up the last upwind when both ends got a big gust and i dropped to 8. I was still 5th overall though. On day 3, we had very strong 18-28 knots with an irregular chop. I did alrite, capsizing twice and finishing the day with a 8-6, i dropped from 5th to 7th overall. At this point, Richard Bott was leading with 6 points after 1 discard 6-3-1-1-1, Ben Price was second, 1-1-4-6-3, Klade was third, 2-2-5-7-2 and Tristan was fourth, 3-4-3-5-9. Today, we had three shifty 8-12 knots races and i did pretty well getting 4-1-4, on the last race i was leading by 8 boat lengths and lost 3 boats on the final downwind due to a gust they got which i didnt. Finished the regatta 5th overall. Results: 1. Ben Price 1-1-4-6-3-3-5-2, 2. Klade 2-2-5-7-2-1-7-1. 3. Tristan 3-4-3-5-9-6-2-3, 4. Richard Bott 6-3-1-1-1-ocs-6-9 and me 5. 4-6-8-8-6-4-1-4
